Only 3 weeks to go until this years mega diesel event on the ELR, interesting line-up of visiting power and selection from the home fleet. Details and timetable complete with rostered loco's on the link:

    http://www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk/events-activities/2015/7/summer-diesel-spectacular.aspx

Usual format for me, 2 days lineside photography, 1 day travel with a rover ticket, weather will dictated which.
I get a full 3 day pass to do as I please, Wife loves tennis and it's Wimbledon finals weekend!

It's an absolutely cracking timetable. I'm looking forward to the 40/35/26 thrashing contest on the ski jump on Friday night. Does anyone have any idea what the DCR loco will be? I'm hoping for a grid but a 31 would be fine.

Agreed, a Class56 would be good in the line-up, especially after 56006 packed in (with fuel starvation so we were told) last weekend on the WSR. It meant 59003 got more use than intended, nice paint job.

    That's very true. 37275 had the same problem at Bury. I believe this will be the first ever Summer diesel do without anything with 2 engines. I can only go by the events I've been to but 1996 had a 42 and a Western. 1997 had a 42 and a Western and 3 deltics. 1998 had 2 class 42s, 3 Westerns and 2 deltics. 200o had a 42, a 52 and a 55. 2001 had the same. 2002 had a 42, 2 Westerns and a 55. 2003 had a 42 and a 52. 2004 had the same. 2005 and 2006 had a lone D832. 2007 had a 42, a 52 and a 55. 2008 had a lone Western. 2009 had a Western and a deltic. 2010 had a deltic and every gala since then has had 2 deltics.

Two days to go! The line-up from north of the Border with various Mc-visitors arrived Monday with a very strange but good looking Class31 in its new clothes.
Weather looks good, just a chance of some showers late Sunday, makes it difficult to choose the travel day! Boots, rucksack and camera gear for 2 days, 1 day trying to get haulage by everything running that day, shouldn't be to difficult.
Lot of kettles now off the boil with fire risk (mainline steam), shouldn't present any problems on the ELR, unless someone forgets to order the beer! Should be a good turn out, hope everyone enjoys it.

No show with 73001 this morning, rumour brakes problem. 37025 didn't complete the day missing its last trip double headed trip to Rawtenstall with the still un-number/lettered 37418. Hope its all right for day 2 tomorrow. Plenty of sunshine and blue skies today but clouded up about 4.30pm. Running slowly deteriorated throughout the day ending about 30/40 minutes adrift.

Day 2 and 73001 put in its booked appearances so it must be fixed. 37025 did not show again on its late afternoon trip to Rawtenstall, un-number 37418 substituting again. Times slipped again slowly throughout the day, I came away at 17.30 and they were about 30 mins down. Weather started overcast and picked up slowly through the morning, but plenty of big clouds made it a little difficult to predict where the better shots would be. All in all a good day, 7076 very vocal as usual. Train riding day tomorrow, rain forecast for 13.00 onwards.

Excellent stuff as usual Austin, like the 'alternative' views, look forward to days 2+3 if you are filming, thanks.

Day 3 was a riding day for me, money in the ELR's coffers! 37025 was a no-show so I guess a McKnackered, hope its simple and easily repaired in view of its sorties out on the big railway shortly. Time keeping was variable throughout the day, at worst about 20 down by the end. Missed the Hymek not booked for this day, however, great trip behind Class 40 345, nice and loud through Brooksbottom tunnels!
Thanks to everyone who made the event possible, great weekend as usual, look forward to the autumn weekend.

Yes I am an active volunteer
This years East Lancs Summer diesel gala had 23 members of the SRPS diesel group and
    also a few Bo'ness locos.
We were all made to feel very welcome as usual.
All locos performed well until Saturday afternoon when 37025's radiator fan
    clutch packed in.
It was decided to take to loco out of service and sort it when it returns to Bo'ness.

Some photos of the weekend are now on-line.
Pic 10 just says it all.
