Last night, I wanted to try to photograph an ELR Halloween special out on the line using multiple flash. I went to Bury Bolton St. station and met with the Responsible Officer and discussed with him what I wanted to do and asked his agreement. For safety's sake, it was vital that the crews should be aware of my intentions and proposed locations.
The station looked great, there were people everywhere, customers, staff, volunteers etc. Loads of people in costume and lots of decorations. I must say that everything looked great and must have really put the customers in the right mood for their rides.

Everyone from the ELR was very busy. Having said that, everyone that I spoke to including the RO, could not have been more friendly and helpful, with a distinct can-do attitude, even though they all had lots to do. I know that on this forum there are several people who tend to bash the ELR, but these people should be aware that the welcome and co-operation I received was equal to or better than any other heritage railway I have visited.

Anyway, following their agreement, here are the results. Only three, but you don't get many chances with this type of photography and I didn't want to cause a nuisance to the railway, especially after they had been so helpful.

May I remind people that lineside flash should never be used without prior warning/agreement from the railway.

A BIG thank you for all at the ELR. You should be applauded for your helpfulness and friendliness.
