East Lancs Small Engines Gala - 10th/11th June

    Lucie seen on a test run ahead of the this weekends ELR Small Engines Gala

    Line up over the weekend should be:
    Steam:
    • Visiting locomotive Cockerill Steam Tram “Lucie” from the NYMR

    When not out on main line trains, some of the diesel shunters will be performing shuttles over the weekend within Bury Station Limits (platform 4 to the Broadfield section signal - up the 'ski jump' over the Metrolink bridge):

    Not best pleased on Saturday evening those of us who where enjoying the pre-departure canopies and glass of fizzy prior to an evening diner train (black tie and posh frocks!), when the crew on the adjacent platform with the tram decided to throw coal on and resulted in the reception being flooded with heavy choking smoke. Lots of white shirts and ladies white dresses somewhat modified with soot blobs!! Added a slight smoky taste to the chicken sticks (!) and different aromas to aftershaves/perfumes. Needless to say, those subject to the smoke-out were definitely not 'chuffed'.
