Elsecar Railway is uniquely placed to tell the story of the South Yorkshire Coalfield from its very beginning at Elsecar in 1670 to almost its very end at Cortonwood in 1984. There is precious little to say thank you for 300 years of local endeavour and we intend to become a living memorial to the 20 or so generations of South Yorkshire Miners.
Our new level crossing is in place and Cortonwood is tantalisingly close. P Way anybody?
