Swiss galas are always worth doing - they don't have many preserved lines so the vast majority are on mainlines. The tickets are usually pretty cheap as well, though it does mean services are busy! It's not solely a steam gala so expect lots of vintage electric locos and railcars out as well. There will be feeder services from other parts of Switzerland as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the massive SNCF 4-8-2 241.A.65 makes an appearance on a tour. Sadly 01 202 is still in bits in Meiningen.

However, the big news from the event so far is the planned overhaul of Ed 3/3 no. 3 Langnau, an 1881 built 0-6-0T that's been preserved since 1933. It last worked in about 1963. Total overhaul costs estimated to be 11,000 CHFs - less than £10,000 - and 5000 CHFs of that is transport costs.
