End of the Year - Thank You.

Discussion in 'On Track.' started by Ellis Jacklin, Dec 22, 2014.

"As we head into the end of year 149 on the Talyllyn Railway, I thought I would update you on what has been happening behind the scenes and also thank every single one of our supporters for a year to remember on the Railway.

I am very pleased to say that at the end of our operating season our passenger figures were higher than those in 2013. We can cautiously say that 2014 has been a good one for the Railway.

Gift Aid is crucial in supporting the Talyllyn Railway and ensuring we are here for your generation of visitors and the next generation. On your next visit to the Railway you will see improved signage for the 2015 season on why we use Gift Aid Fares, most importantly the advantages it brings to you as passengers will be much clearer. Please consider Gift Aiding your fare to help support the Railway.

We will be implementing changes to the way we deliver our catering in 2015. It will be a departure from what we have been used to but it is hoped to increase the range and quality on offer across our Cafes. We really hope you like the changes.

You have been supporting us by visiting our website and by clicking ‘Like’ on our Facebook Page and following our Twitter sites. I may even have you to thank for passing the number of Likes for me to spend a day at Cynfal Halt as Stationmaster earlier in the year. Support from all over the world flooded in as I spent an unforgettable day helping our passengers at Cynfal Halt.

It has been a lovely year on the railway and it has heartened me to see so many of the volunteers smiling and having fun. To our volunteers, I am convinced this alone has a positive impact on our visitors so please keep up the good work.

Staff and volunteers have worked their socks off this year and may I say thank you. It is no over exaggeration to say “It wouldn’t happen without you”. We also must not forget the impact of Society Members and it’s heartening to be informed that membership has just passed the highest level it has been for many years. If you are not yet a member of the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society, please visit our website and consider joining us.

I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the passing of Sonia Rolt. Sonia was the widow of Tom Rolt, one of the co-founders of the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society. She was a charming lady and behind every visionary is a supportive partner; anyone in a long term relationship will confirm this.

We are heading into the 150th Birthday of the Talyllyn Railway in 2015. Talyllyn 150 will be an event to remember. There will be lots happening, lots of surprises and things not to be missed. Keep Liking away on Facebook and Instagram, keep retweeting away on Twitter and be the first to find out the big Talyllyn news stories.

To each and every supporter of the Talyllyn Railway, Thank you. On behalf of all the staff of the Talyllyn Railway, Have a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year."

    Chris Price, General Manager.
