Plans are coming together for the 9th September which sees the Norwegian Wings Over North Weald event; a celebration of the commitment and sacrifices of the Norwegian aircrews who were based at and flew from North Weald airfield to defend the skies over London. The railway has always had a strong link with the airfield as it was instrumental to the location of the airfield, providing the transport for building materials and latterly for the air and ground crews. The railway and airfield will be coming together to celebrate in 1940’s atmosphere on 9th Sept.

The EOR heritage bus and rail network will be linking up Epping Underground station, Epping High Street, Ongar and the airfield, and you can travel as the airmen did in 1940s style all day.

For the first time we are pleased to offer a combined ticket that offers travel ALL DAY on the buses, steam trains and diesel trains PLUS entry to the massive airfield event. The special advanced purchase ticket saves over £3 on the "on the day" separate prices, being only £15.50 Adults, £13.50 Seniors and £9.50 Children, which includes a £2 donation to charity. These will are now available to purchase from our website.

The airfield will be packed with planes both old (Spitfires et al) and new (Hercules and F16's), including some flying overhead in the skies, community stalls, kids attractions and classic cars. Both the airfield and railway stations will be getting into the 1940s theme with re-enactors, vehicles, displays and the odd surprise!

Please note, for those choosing to come in period dress, in order to ensure an accurate recreation of 1940's life in this area, only those in Allied forces dress will be admitted.

We look forward to welcoming you down to what promises to be a special and unique event.

    Simon, EOR

There is only a few hours left to buy your joint tickets for tomorrow's 1940's event (in conjunction with North Weald airfield)... still available on Epping Ongar Railway - Tickets
The ONLY tickets available on the day are the normal priced separate ones (EOR's at our normal prices and the airfield at £5/head), so hurry and get your joint entry ticket and save ££££'s!
The airfield event has many vehicles and planes on display and stands, including several fly-pasts of both modern and vintage planes, including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire at 14:45 and a few jets, not to mention the EOR will be getting into theme with re-enactors and the odd military vehicle too. These will be alongside our heritage buses not only going to/from Epping station but also a shuttle bus taking you past the airfield museum and straight to the airfield event... come on down tomorrow and step back in time with us to the 1940's!
