Quite a few engines have moved home and/or owner recently, or are about to: 2885,4141,4953,6619.35018.44901,68077 all spring to mind.

What's still for sale? These are the locos that I could think of.

    2859: Ex-Barry, unrestored, Llangollen
3803: In working order. Currently on the Battlefield line
    4121: Ex-Barry, unrestored. Location ????
4588: Out of ticket, but complete. Paignton
7760: Out of ticket, but complete. Tyseley
34073: Ex-Barry, unrestored, Bury. Railway Magazine said that there was a potential buyer about a year ago, but all has gone quiet since.
47298: In working order as "Thomas". Llangollen
92219: Ex-Barry, unrestored. No tender. Butterley. Steam Railway reported that a potential buyer is in talks with the owning group.

Have I missed any others? Is any of the above info inaccurate?

A scouser in a pub the other night told me he could get me a sweet deal on two used A4's off the back of a loading dock if I meet him at the docks in Liverpool in a few weeks.

    ;-)

Here we go. For your information, the two A4s will not be going anywhere near Liverpool. Where they are being offloaded is in the Borough of Sefton. They will then proceed through Sefton and onwards into Lancashire. If they get nicked you can blame the Bootleians.

Thanks for that info. I wondered where it was. it presumably still is owned by Dr Kennedy, who used to keep his engines at Thingley Junction once upon a time.

If you wish to be pedantic they will be off-loaded in Liverpool Freeport - which is located in the Borough of Sefton. The nearby coal loading terminal is known as the Liverpool Bulk Terminal - also in the Borough of Sefton. Both Liverpool Bulk Terminal and Liverpool Freeport are part of the Liverpool Docks Complex operated by Peel Group who also describe the complex as Liverpool Docks.

If the owners define them thus then who are we to disagree ?

You are right to note that the move will be out of the docks onto the A5036 to Switch Island then along the M57 passing around the outskirts of Liverpool to the M62 then onto the M6 to head south to Andrew Goodman's yard at Sutton Coldfield IIRC - and subject to route approval by the respective police forces.

I have just noticed that a pile of bricks has gone missing in the area.

    Anybody want any wheels?

All very interesting. But the more interesting question is how much are they on the market for (in case one were to win the lottery at the weekend).

They're not. That has been made abundantly clear from the start of the discussions about this loan period.

    MarkinDurham,

Sorry, I was talking about those engines at the bottom of the thread, not the A4s. Personally, I think they're great ambassadors at home, esp. after a cosmetic freshen up here - especially Dominion.

No worries - it's just that there has been some hysteria about these locomotives - and I agree, they are a good advert for the UK, & will be even better when they return, sporting their new clothes!

No wonder the Yanks get the heebie jeebies-hope they don't read this forum! The A4's being returned to the UK for the 'Streak Reunion' are here as a matter of privilege not for any other self righteous British reason. Although I do see where you are coming from...perish the thought!

    Cheers Athelney - and welcome.

She'll look great when she comes home in her new blue ball gown and posh valence dancing shoes. Out of interest, where are ExpoRail going to put her when she comes back - it would be too bad if she were stuck back in the corner that she's just left.

Forget the Yanks, us Canucks get our backs up too :p

Sadly, not a clue as i have no involvement with the CRHA/Exporail. I would hope that some room inside the Angus Pavillion will be found so that she is inside the climate controlled space with the other fully cosmetically restored equipment and given a place of honour she deserves, but only time will tell.
