    AS major works get underway at Hampstead Heath train station, residents have welcomed more dramatic plans that would see the building completely demolished and rebuilt further down the line.

    The station is due to be taken over by a new rail company in November and there are hopes that it will have a grand makeover.

    But in the meantime current operator Silverlink has begun work to refurbish the ticket office, interior and station roof.
