Whilst waiting for 'Sir Nigel Gresley' yesterday, I saw First Great Western 57603 trundle northward on the down slow line. There are a couple of pictures on my Fotopic site in the 'Stop Press!' collection :

    and

They will be there for a couple of weeks or so; I shall then transfer them to the Main Line Diesel collection in the second gallery. They will then be here :

Does anybody know where it was going, and why?

Reported to be involved in stock movements centred on Glasgow Works and should be returning down the WCML sometime on Monday with the poossibility of collecting a VT Class 57/3 en route as part of the southbound consist.

Yep it was announced in advance on WNXX it was working OOC to Polmaddie via the ECML. I wanted to see this loco, but the only timings published were depart OOC 08.30 and depart Doncaster at 15.20. Obviously it would be parked up for a while somewhere en route with such slack timings, but I couldn't find out where & when.

Compliments on a clear sharp image though.

    Thanks for the info.

It passed me, a couple of miles north of St. Neots, at about 12:23, so, if it left on time, it had already been on the go for nearly four hours.

Left OOC at 0950, retimed a bit later.
Back south tomorrow at 0900ish off Polmadie + 2 barriers, 2 buffets, 2 translator coaches and a 57/3. 57/3 and translators for Bletchley for a Bletchley to Eastleigh 321 move next week, 57603 carries on to Laira Monday evening, back to OOC Tuesday morning.

Looks like you have found an alternative spot to the more usual Offord Curves . I guess you were nearer to Great Paxton . Will have to do some exploring as it looks like a good position .
Enjoyed your pictures of Tornado and Sir Nigel . Unfortunately I had to change my plans .
