As it doesn't seem to have been mentioned on here already I thought I would let you all know that the Foxfield Railway's Beyer Peacock 0-4-0ST will be the first steam loco to work on the Cambrian Railway Society's Nantmawr branch, near Oswestry, in over 50 years. It will be in action this coming weekend 7th/8th November and throughout November and early December and I believe it is hoped to be able to provide rides using a GWR 'Toad' from the Llangollen Railway.

Hoping to pop down later in the month, don't think I can afford tickets for the first day! I walked along the nantmawr branch about 6 years ago so it will be interesting to see how it's changed. It's uphill all the way I believe so could be quite entertaining.

I went to Nantmawr today to have a look at what was going on. The weather was atrocious and probably contributed to the lack of people there but everybody was very friendly and helpful. My Dad and I had a trip on the short running line which set us back £5 each, not £20 as advertised on the website.
It's not very easy to find but it's worth popping down to have a look at as it's in a beautiful location with lots of potential.

Had a nice day driving the Beyer today, only two weeks left on its ticket but well worth taking a look a small but dynamic group who have achieved a great deal.

I will put the group in touch with Nat Pres and they can add a few details

Post code SY10 9HW for sat nav - dont drive into the farm but carry on 200 yards and the site is at the bottom of the hill.

Lots of potential in this area.
