    Lovely, the old Valenta engine's (before MTU replacement) could clag and spit flame with the very best of them, I have a phot of the Network Rail HST at Derby years ago having just come off the Test Centre, clagging to an extent that would put a ropey Deltic in 81 to shame!.

    What I mean Victor was ropey in the fact BR were running them into the ground as they were preparing to withdraw then, most loco's in their last months/days seem to be allowed to get pretty crap mechnically.
