    not quite sure what the strategic direction implied will be but I think that is the running fleet for sale . Similarly didn't they sell their first gen DMU's and replace with pacers ?

    Given the length and condition of line, and the breadth of the collection there, I'm wondering whether Pacers ever formed part of a strategy.

    IIRC the units were sold at a nominal price to heritage lines or bodies with an acceptable future use thus worthy of saving - cheap vehicles for further passenger services
