The Foxfield autumn gala will be taking place on the 27th and 28th September this year. It will feature the operational steam home fleet in action consisting of 'Florence No.2', 'Whiston', 'Bellerophon', 'Beyer Peacock 1827' and 'Dubs' crane tank. Bagnall 0-6-0DM 'Wolstanton' will also be in action at the colliery.

The Knotty Heritage train will be in service during the weekend hauled by Bellerophon and the Beyer Peacock and will operate on a turn about basis with the standard service train to give an intensive passenger service. There will be a variety of freights around the colliery and on Foxfield Bank featuring either single heading or banking turns.

The 'One Legged Shunter' bar at Caverswall Road Station will be offering its usual array of real ales and the buffet will be open for soft drinks and food.

Tickets allow you to ride on all passenger trains and entry to Foxfield Colliery using the free bus from Caverswall Road to Dilhorne. (Please note: If you are making your own way to Foxfield Colliery entry requires purchase of the day rover ticket if you haven't already done so).

We look forward to seeing you there.

Final arrangements for the Autumn Gala this coming weekend are under way. The first passenger departure is at 9.10am featuring an early run for the Knotty Heritage Train which will then alternate with the standard passenger rake for an hourly departure from Caverswall Road. This will require separate arrival and departure platforms so the passenger rakes will be shunted from platform one to the bay platform for departures (an added treat for all those track bashers out there!)

I am looking forward to making my first ever visit to the railway on Saturday for this event. I do have one question which I have been unable to find an answer to on the Foxfield Railway website, and that is how old do you need to be in order to qualify for the senior citizen fare on this particular railway? Thanks in advance for an answer.
    Cheers,

    That's a good question, I'll check.

Thanks for finding out. As I'm only 62, it looks like the first round in the One legged Shunter will be on my old mate Kaikers, who will be accompanying me on the day, as he has just passed that milestone.

Are there any light engine/freight moves before then?

A set of images taken on Saturday 27th September during my first ever visit to this great little railway can now be seen on my Zenfolio website at http://mickrogers.zenfolio.com/p464181983
A really enjoyable day out despite the sun disappearing for the day as soon as we arrived. A return visit is a definite.

Nice set of photographs Mick, thanks for posting them and we hope you enjoyed your visit. Lots of exciting ideas being put forward for next year's galas.

Thanks Tim, more fabulous photos. The Peacock on the mineral and two hoppers was right on it's limit according to the crew.
