There's usually a very vibrant thread concerning Foxfield Galas but with just over two weeks to go, it all seems very quiet on here unless I've missed something.

I've seen the details on the website and have known about the visiting loco for some time now but was sworn to secrecy until announced officially. It's just that normally there's a very vibrant thread on for for several weeks before the event.

ok, here a stab in the dark, a pannier. Now the big question is there one out there thats will to take on the thrash up the bank? Would be nice to see as while their may not have been one at fox field (?), they were as commen as saddle tanks in mining areas in some parts of the country. Also fits the bill of not being to big or to small for foxfield. Well thats my guess or should I say wish list, have to wait till some lets the cat out of the bag.

Surely the gala page gives you all the info needed?

    http://foxfieldrailway.co.uk/event_article.php?Summer-Steam-Gala-15

Guest locomotive is Vulcan with Florence No. 2,Bellerophon, Whiston and the Dubs crane (plus 1827 I believe) . I believe that info has been on there a while as I created a thread on the works for it over a week ago.

I'll ask the usual question - any chance of Dubsy doing brake van rides? (I think I know the answer, but as it has done brake van rides in the past, I feel duty bound to ask)

You're missing the point. I know where the web site is and I've read the info but I'll say it again. Previous galas have had a vibrant thread preceding them with input from Glenalmond and other members of the Foxfield team but this year there's been nothing.

I know Glenalmond has been very involved in the Knotty coach project so this may be taking his time

I've prompted as to whether the railway would like an early morning charter in support of the event which i'd coordinate and run

If any nat pres members are interested let me know

    Would this be with Vulcan?

I'm open to how much support there is for it in a colliery environment or whether people would like some full on Austerity action or we twist Dave's arm for both !

OK. Problem for me is it clashes with the Air Tattoo at Fairford and the first UK appearance of an F-35. Difficult choice.

Depends if it's Saturday or Sunday; Saturday also clashes with DRS Open Day at Crewe where the Class 68s are expected to be guest loco but Sunday is a more flexible date. Certainly agree that a charter on the day before the main event is worth the effort providing "freeloaders" can be controlled and kept away.

At present it is planned for an early morning charter at the Colliery on the Saturday morning using Vulcan only and starting at 7.00am, I have no information at present as to who the organiser is.
As regards the rest of the weekend - locos are as mentioned previously including Beyer Peacock 1827 which is due to return from Cheddleton soon. Vulcan and the Peacock are planned to run as a pair with the exception of Vulcan piloting Bellerophon on the final train up Foxfield Bank on the Saturday evening.

Assuming the F-35 hasn't caught fire or been grounded by then :)

Fantastic. I love it when they run 2 small engines as a pair and that last train with Vulcan piloting Bellerophon should be loud as! I have missed the Beyer Peacock. It double-keading with RH #6 was always a highlight of any Foxfield gala for me. Is there a video of the Vulcan. I want to know what it sounds like and don't be smart and say it howls seeing as we're talking planes on this thread!!

Farnborough confirm the F-35B as still coming in spite of the mishap with the A model. All irrelevant now as the charter looks like it's Saturday and I'm working.

Vulcan is reported to be on site at Foxfield, and the rumour is that for some reason a headboard is being made with the legend "Live Long and Prosper". I wonder what the livery police will make of that.

Don't forget though, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

That'll be the same livery police who'll happily overlook the fact it's working out of a colliery, so long as the lining's right and any headboards are known to have been carried whilst being driven by a bloke with the same coloured cap? :D
