FREIGHTLINER has added Doncaster to its UK rail network with a new daily service from Felixstowe, starting on Monday 19 December, 2005. Freightliner says the decision to add this service comes in response to demand from customers, which are attracted by the high concentration of distribution centres in and around Doncaster.

The service makes Doncaster the 13th location served by Freightliner out of Felixstowe — the other locations are Coatbridge, Cleveland, Leeds, Selby, Liverpool, Ditton, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Daventry, Hams Hall and Tilbury.

The addition of Doncaster to these existing services — 19 in total every day — will bring the volume carried by Freightliner to and from Felixstowe to an average of over 1,200 containers per day, around 85% of all rail volume at the port.

Peter Maybury, managing director of Freightliner Intermodal, commented: “The launch of this new service highlights Freightliner’s commitment to meeting all of our customers’ rail freight requirements, and should put us in an even stronger position to provide the highest level of service
