There was a thread about this project back in 2007, but it is now archived.

Some information appeared in the Spring 2008 issue of "Main Line", the GCR house magazine, and is repeated on the following website:

    http://www.gcr-rollingstocktrust.co.uk/ ... asp?id=227

Not of the level of complexity of "Tornado", it is a slide-valve non-superheated 4-4-0, and they have available a GCR tender chassis, a brand new cylinder block, and a suitable boiler that came from the same location in Essex as the one being used for the Brighton Atlantic project.

Does anyone have any recent news of how this project is coming together?

An interesting looking project, and one well worth pursueing I would have thought. Does anyone know what Midland class the boiler originally came from? The webpage does have some errors in it, they seem to have forgotten the beautiful SECR D class No 737 is a 4-4-0 of the 1890-1910 period, but otherwise its a good start.

Back to the original question; I think that the GC rebuild scheme did not progress and that there is now a proposal to build an M&GN 4-4-0 as it is believed that is where the boiler comes from.
