GCR - 'The Big One' Winter Gala

    Titled 'The Big One' this gala really was exactly what it said on the program. 10 locomotives in steam, goods trains, turntable demonstrations, TPO's and regular passenger workings saw the busiest gala ever.

    A group of us from the Flickr Progressive & Artistic Railway Photography group spent Friday on the GCR for the first day of the Winter Gala.
    The weather started freezing cold and bright sunshine, but began to deteriorate after lunch. By late afternoon heavy showers of rain and hail were crossing the area, but the upside of this was some spectacular skies.

    As the morning services start we all get a clear message of how busy this gala as going to be. Combining passenger services, TPO's, freight and light engine positioning moves, and all this before any thought of lunch!
