The one-off "Round Germany 01 Special" has already been mentioned
here , but several main line events have become fairly regular over recent years:

    Albtalbahn
(Karlsruhe) - Ettlingen Stadt - Bad Herrenalb

The train starts in Karlsruhe Hbf, and makes the short journey to Ettlingen Stadt, from where it runs up the valley, on what is essentially a tramline, to Bad Herrenalb. The gradient is steep, and the scenery belies the line's tram status. A diesel on the back drags the ensemble half way down for a number of shuttle runs. The main road follows the line all the way.

    Schwarzwaldbahn

52 7596 leaves Rottweil (tender-first) at a sensible hour to Hausach, where it runs-round, and does a shuttle up the very steep gradient, with 37 tunnels, to St. Georgen and back, before returning to Rottweil. Unfortunately, the line is on the north side of the valley, so if the sun is shining photography is a little difficult. This train runs every Sunday throughout the summer.

Occasionally there are parallel steam trains run between Hausach and St. Georgen; and this on a busy electrified main line!
