    Hi,
Just been to the loco roster of the Glos Warks website to find that it was last updated on 9th May! Any GWR members here who can tell me what's running on Sunday?

Andy B says in the GWR 175 Gala thread

' (the 38 is diagrammed to run this coming weekend with the 9f).'

Not sure if thats still correct though.

3717 and 5542 are not currently 'on site' and I believe all other gala visitors except 3803 have probably left

Thanks. Other info I've received suggests it will be the same two locos with the possibility of the 8F deputising for one of them.

Sorry that the website loco info has not been updated - a small issue of gala preparations and the day job getting in the way! Interesting weekend just gone - the 38 and the 9 were diagrammed service engines, unfortunately we could'nt get a second driver on saturday due the 'post gala' blues (60 driving and 60 firing turns in 9 days, shared between about 12 sets of crew). However, we did run both on Sunday.
8F 8274 was in use on saturday on a wedding special hooked up to WR special sallon 9004 - it was the 8f's chief engineers daughter getting married!
The 8 has now gone back into the works for some minor tweaks and final finishing off. We expect it to enter normal service during the first two weeks of July, remember though it will have air tanks, a compressor and be known as 45160 for the remainder of the 2010 season. In the meantime the 9f and the 38 will work all scheduled services.

I had a day out with SWMBO on Sunday, ending up in Broadway. She doesn't like visiting railways but I suggested that, if we went as far as Toddington, we could get a bite to eat in the cafe there, rather than expensive Broadway, and I could have a quick look around and this idea was accepted. The place seemed very busy, with the classic cars on display, but I was surprised to find the cafe closed and had to employ plan B and go to the pub for lunch. Presumably, the cafe closure was also due to a lack of staff?

Does this mean the loco will be now turned out into another livery?

    Cheers,
    Lewis

45160 is it's Turkish number . and I suspect therefore it will be carrying either WD or a form of Turkish livery

Yes - but due to the wedding, rather than post gala blues. I think we can allow the proprietor a weekend off for her daughter's wedding!!

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate things have been a bit busy of late on the railway. In the end I went to the KESR on the strength of the weather forecast. A nice sunny day for a change. Will be happy to see the 8F running no matter what the livery. WD would be nice though at some stage.

With just a couple of additions it wont be too bad, the air receiver tanks and compressor are in stock from 1989 and will be fitted shortly.
I will enquire about a short period as WD348. Knowing the group i'm sure they will be up for it. By the way when 48773 ran in its WD guise a few years back, the tanks and compressor were loaned from 8274/45160.

Thanks for responding. Now I know, I can understand why but, to the casual visitor, it did seem a strange thing to happen on such a busy day.
