Time is marching on, UKSI still proclaims this will be headed by Tangmere, even tho to date its not turned a wheel since its been reassembled. So the big question is

Is there room to stick a big Arrow on a black 5? Where can you fix the flags on the front of a class 57?

Rain just starting to clear mid Kent at present.

Might be light cloud, (or worse!), when Tangy gets into the Garden of England.

This afternoon might even see some sunshine. Along with showers. Well, it is April, isn't it.

Fingers crossed Tangy is back into reliable service today. I see that UK steam.info shows a 57 is booked on the back for the steam portion. Not a bad idea for the first normal run out of 34067 after it's problems.

Bang on time at Ashford. looking very well turned out. Nicely quartered buffers. Oh - and no clank.

57 on the rear - probably wise

The 57 is needed to provide power to the eth/air conditioned coaching stock.

Back through Ashford on time, going with some enthusiasm. Distinctly quieter than in recent years

In a slightly less bucolic setting than normally featured in this thread, Tangmere heads for home through Imperial Wharf yesterday. DSC_0195b.JPG

Some great clips of Tangmere yesterday and I agree that she both looked and sounded good. In my view, (and that is all it is) I have never felt wholly comfortable with the mechanical condition of Tangmere both from listening to her, riding behind her and experiencing her fail on me through a mechanical problem. At the risk of tempting providence, it does sound as though she may now be as she should have been ages ago and that is something to be celebrated. We all know that unrebuilt Bulleids can be temperamental but on the other hand, when you look at her yesterday it all seems worth the effort. Well done to all the engineers and support crew.

I think yesterday counts as a pretty impressive and successful return to duty. Echo the sentiment - well done to all concerned and I'll add a huge eff off raspberry to all the doom mongers who said the Tangmere incident would be the death of main-line steam. - :ppppfffffftttttttttttttttttt
