    Train travel on TV

A new four-week television series focussing on classic rail journeys begins tonight (Monday 4 January).

Called Great British Railway Journeys, the series follows Michael Portillo as he takes four long journeys across the length and breadth of Britain, following the Victorian Railway Guidebook published by renowned cartographer and printer George Bradshaw.

The journeys featured in the programme are:

    Liverpool to Scarborough
    Preston to Kirkcaldy
    Swindon to Penzance
    Buxton to London
To help the production team create the programme, many colleagues from around our business assisted the television crew and the media team arranged for filming to take place in a number of locations, including our managed stations and on the Forth Bridge.

The programme will air every week night at 18:30 on BBC 2.
