    The Gwili Railway in Carmarthen is pleased to announce its first Diesel Gala for twenty years, and the first in its history to use ex-BR locomotives.

    The two day event will take place over the weekend of August 14th/15th. An extremely intensive timetable is being prepared, which will feature the lines resident class 03 (D2178) and the 117 DMU on service trains. Negotiations are also well advanced for at least one visiting ex-BR locomotive, which will also be used on passenger trains.

    Other attractions being planned for the event include;

    - Brake van rides
    - Evening photo charters
    - Real Ale Train "Beerex"
    - Visiting diesel/battery electric locos etc on the 7.25" miniature railway
    - Launch of a major new illustrated book on the modern railways of Wales.
    - Cab Rides (tbc)
    - Trade stands
    - Vintage bus shuttles to/from Carmarthen railway station
    - And more to be announced!

    The diesel enthusiasts on the railway hope that the selection of a weekend that is traditionally the 'off-season' for Diesel Galas will encourage enthusiasts to make the journey to West Wales, for what promises to be a memorable occasion.

    If anyone has a tradestand or display stand, who would like to appear the event; please get in contact via PM so that I can pass you onto the event coordinator.

    Cheers,

    Phil.
