I'd assume this will be home fleet only? Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things; as far as I'm concerned, even without visiting locomotives, the GWSR's operational motive power fleet is impressive in it's own right.

The Dean Forest Railway also plan on having a "50th + 1" event the same weekend. Could be a good weekend to do both if travelling to the area and staying overnight.

Edit - 23rd October 1971 was the first open day at Parkend, but the society was formed in 1970.

That’s a shame we’ve already booked hotel and tickets! Is it correct it’s blue timetable all weekend? Every other October Saturday has the purple timetable of two steam, in fact that Saturday looks to be the only all year that isn’t two steam. Might still go if two steam Saturday one steam one DMU the Sunday.

There doesn’t seem to be much information about that at the moment, hopefully will be before long….

5541, Swiftsure, DMU, D9521, brake van rides all confirmed in the railway's own magazine, but yes nothing on the website or social media. Tickets are the usual price too, £17 adult.

Reading the timetable it appears that for instance 35006 arrives at Cheltenham at 0942 and us then shown as becoming the 0953 but the heading over he 0953 is D1. This format repeats throughout. Is is correct or does 35006 work the 1033 as shown below?. Thanks

Yes I realise that but does the 'Becomes' refer to the stock or the loco?

To maintain a high frequency of services locomotives swap at Cheltenham, 35006 works the 10.33 to Broadway. The becomes refers to the stock.

    Regards,

    Mike
