A blog post from Sam Mullins (LTM Director) about Tube 150 and the Year Of The Bus contains the following about Hammersmith 150 and Chesham 125

Might have to venture down again for the Hammersmith one, something quite unique about steam in the tunnels as opposed to the open air stretches.

Hope 5521 is gauged to Moorgate, Met 1's reliability hasn't been brilliant thus far.

Indeed, trouble is its pushed in the tunnels anyway.

Wouldn't have missed the experience of riding 1st class for the world, and I have an "in coach by the window" video of one of the entire trips..
But in reality the regulator was only lightly touched in the stations and pushed the rest.

I can let that fact pass as before last year I would not have believed steam would go through the tunnels again full stop.

According to the latest Heritage Railway magazine, the Hammersmith 150 trains will start the day at Northfields on the Piccadilly Line.

Gonna be a busy month is August with this and the scheduled visit of the Canadian Lancaster.

Edit : Just spotted that it's all Saturdays. That's gonna be awkward.

I have sufficient chuffs on my sound recording to count the ride as steam hauled in the tunnels. :)

I'm unfamiliar with the connections between routes not shown on the normal tub map, does that mean Piccadilly from Northfields to Hammersmith then Hammersmith & City to Moorgate ?.

Starts on the Piccadilly, then the District through Earl's Court and onto the Circle to Moorgate via Paddington.

If it's starting at Northfields, and at a guess. It'll be stabled at Ruislip Depot as per the previous runs, run out of the depot to the head shunt, reverse down to Northfields via Rayners Lane. Then onto Earls Court. It'll then have to head to Edgware Road and reverse and traverse Praed Street junction to get onto the Hammersmith (H&C + Circle) Line.

Or instead of the reverse at Edgware, if everything starts from Moorgate, direct into Moorgate.

It's actually stabling at Northfields Depot, although the whole train plus spare locos will have to travel there by rail as there is no road / rail loading facility there other than to use cranes to lift vehicles off the lorry and onto one of the sidings by the entrance. Likely that everything will come into Ruislip Depot by road.

I understand it is likely to operate out of Neasden Depot for the Chesham branch runs.

    Regards,

    Dan

Dan - Sorry, I meant to get to Northfields Depot. Like you say, it'll be stabled at Northfields.

It would be most likely, unloaded at Ruislip as there's a few areas it can be done, Transplant's yard at the back or the TLB. You also have ealing common and Lillie Bridge, which I guess have been used previously, judging by Met 1's test runs last year for the LU 150.

Lillie Bridge will not be available as re-development works start before then, hence why the train isn't stabling there as per the LU 150 runs. Given the problems with running SS on certain roads in Ealing Common Depot because of the conductor rail ramps, I suspect that is out of the equation as well.

    Regards,

    Dan

Any idea if the Hammersmith runs are to be late evening again like those for the 150th, or will we see some earlier in the day?

    Thanks for posting Paul.uni
The H+ C route incorparates part of the former LSWR Waterloo to Richmond route.........so perhaps M7 s ran through what is now the back of some Shepherds Bush/Hammersmith terraces before turning off to Ravenscourt Park! Any member around in 1916/17? Probably not,but perhaps one of us heard stories about the services which stopped due to WW1

L44 will look amazing at the terminal station in Hammersmith

Off topic but Jinties and LT Panniers were daily visitors to Ravenscourt Park until 1964-in the daytime as well!

According to both Joe Brown's London Railway Atlas and the Cobb Historical Atlas, there was an LSWR line from Addison Road (now Kensington Olympia) via Hammersmith (Grove Road) to Gunnersbury and Richmond, and there was a connection to that line from the H&C joining just north of Hammersmith, but none of the Hammersmith and City as such was part of an LSWR line.

Apologies to NP members! Joe Brown makes it clear that is was only a connection in Hammersmith with the line running parallel to the H C between Goldhawk Rd and Hammersmith. I'm v critical of posters Not checking their facts before posting.
    Guilty as charged.
The history of services stopped in the WW is fascinating.
Perhaps a few people saw a M7 from their HC train......
Ray Mason on the naughty step!
