Hants & Dorset Centenary - 10th July 2016

    This centenary is being celebrated at Poole Quay on Sunday 10th July (10:00 - 16:00).
    Hopefully up to 40 vintage buses will attend including a one bringing visitors from Southampton.
    Also planned is historic bus running around Poole as well as to/from Bournemouth Pier, Sandbanks and Lytchett Matravers.
    On the Quay there should be memorabilia and other stalls, refreshments as well as family entertainments including face painting, bouncy castle and a marching band.
    It is being organised by Morebus, the 21st century descendant of Hants & Dorset, in support of the local children’s hospice Julia’s House. They have a specific Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/HDCentenary/
    History:
    17 March 1916 - Bournemouth & District Motor Services formed
    July 1920 - name changed to Hants & Dorset Motor Services Limited
    1980's - name subsumed into Wilts & Dorset (in preparation for privatisation)
    A year or two ago the Go-Ahead Group started to use the name Morebus for local services.
