Unfortunately I was off school, recovering from an op!
So I managed to see KGV in action at West Ruislip and Hayes & Harlington, and a visit to Kensington Olympia during the stopover.

 

Just worked it out, off the end of (old) platform 4 with the shadow of Reading Bridge House in the left background.
The silver "chimney" was, I think, near the old power signal box.
I won't mention the people off the platforms!

 

off the end of the platform? We were the other side of the overbridge! different times!

 

Thinking more of the people on the left by the wooden hut.

 

Thats the C&W examiners hut at the end of no8 isn't it? I was much further out than them!

 

Trespass wasn't a problem before 1974. People used to look after themselves.

 

I was taken to Westerleigh Junction to see the Return To Steam special .

 

I was taken the Newport to see both the superior engine 6000, and the inferior engine 4472 leave the station with the train with a party from school. Somewhere I still have the platform ticket from that day.
