Is that why there is a DL on the rear ? To push and save water ....

    Cheers, Neil

I suspect the diesel presence is down to bringing the ECS onto and off of the Bluebell.

My Grandparents are booked on this from Horsted.

Any idea what's happening with 61306 after the tour? When it was originally due to depart from Sheffield Park, it was rumoured that 61306 would be detached from the train on its return to Sheffield Park and return to London at a later date rather than with the ECS. Not sure if that's still the case.

Decided to do my weekly shop at Sainsbury's today so could watch the ECS arrive which it did around 45 minuets late but Mayflower was not on the rear, anyone know why?

Assume, and hope for, the best case - i.e. Mayflower will go down first thing tomorrow. One less steam crew needed.

Bad news for those travelling on this. I've just seen the stock arrive at EG minus Mayflower, she failed FTR yesterday! 47 all day according to a member of Bluebell Staff

Yes that is bad news,I wonder how serious and what the FTR failure was for? Feel for those on this trip, but at least she didnt fail on the main line.

Blimey thats a quandary. I was just sat here planning my shooting itinerary when I got an email telling me about the failed FTR. And now this snippet.

I'll check RTT tomorrow morning to see if Mayflower made it down overnight, or maybe go to my first port of call and cancel the rest of my plans if Mayflower does not show.

I suppose the most likely is probably for Mayflower to just run Southall to Willesden and join there?

its 07:30 -no sign of any last minute movements from Southall on RTT, assuming then that Mayflower wont make it today.

ECS movements Ely to March and back are cancelled on RTT, so I'm assuming that everything stays at Ely with the diesel running round for the return journey.
Shame, but as posted earlier, if Mayflower's going to have a problem, better this occurs in the works rather than half way through the tour.

Went and saw it from the Bluebell's East Grinstead station. No point in travelling for me without steam. 11 coaches so would have been 12 if it had been steam, so diesel would have been on the back anyway. With the gradients on the Bluebell and the speed restrictions due to gauging and weight between East Grinstead and South Croydon I wonder if it possible to have steam unassisted and keep to time. The Bluebell were instructed by the signalman to inform the driver of the diesel to pick up at set of instructions at East Grinstead prior to departure.
