Ex CPR Hudson # 2860 is now inside the main workshop at Squamish for winter maintenance & upgrade work . A second water gauge glass is being installed so the loco can visit the USA legally from now on , the front truck ( bogie ) springs are to be repaired & some work done to the main driving wheel .
A Facebook page is now running -- Royal Hudson #2860 Fan club , where periodic updates will be posted .
There is also a Twitter site for the WCRA site at WCRailway .
The loco will not be on public display till necessary work is done, although if anyone is visiting from Uk or other long distance areas , special arrangements can be made to view the loco.

    cheers Richard

Latest information - The front truck ( bogie) springs have been replaced , a second water gauge glass has been installed recently - this is required to permit the loco to enter the USA.
work is now concentrating on reassembly - Still to be tackled is some work to the middle drive axle box - at present all axle grease cake holders are removed, we are now awaiting material for repairs.
Pics are available at the Facebook page -- Royal Hudson 2860 Fan Club.

Richard, given your prime location in Squamish between Vancouver and Whistler, are you planning on having 2860 out and about come Mid-February and the Winter Olympics, or is there just so much else going on that it doesn't make sense/is no opportunity for your group and the Royal Hudson to take part?

Stephen - thanks for the interest , yes we plan to run a trip from Vancouver to White Rock in early February , details being sorted as we speak. This is being run around the Olympic area , although we are in no way officially linked to the Games .
Loco is still being prepared , quite a way to go yet - but plans are to take her to Vancouver sometime in January 2010.

Sunday 10th January - a warming fire was lit in 2860 today in preparation for boiler hydro test tomorrow and all being well a boiler inspectors visit on Tuesday . Up to time of leaving 18.00 all was going well and new gauge glass was was water tight . A side point re the glass , we determined that this was the first time since 1960 that this glass had felt heat from a loco boiler, it came from P2 class 5433 now residing in Chapleau Ont .

Looks good, i see a couple of the former Waterloo-St Jacobs Railway coaches are in service with you as well now. Glad to see they found a home, its a shame that service failed, it always looked fantastic with the green/black coaches sandwiched between the two F-units.

Yes we have 2 of their coaches , we also have one more coach plus the 2 F9u's in CN livery to come to Vancouver from storage in Mimico in the near future . They have been set up in the Ulmer system and have tags installed, but we are still waiting shipment -- soon we hope.
