PUBLIC transport officials are not practising what they preach, clocking up miles in their car instead of taking buses and trains.

After debating how to improve public transport at a meeting, nine members of the South East Wales Transport Alliance (Sewta) drove off in their cars which were lined up outside.

Sewta, who call themselves a "champion" for transport, in particular public transport, accepted all of the available allocated parking spots at Cardiff's City Hall for their recent Friday board meeting.

This is despite the fact that the central location is served by bus routes and the nearby Cardiff Queen Street and Cathays train stations.

It is not known if the other 20 officers and councillors walked from the meeting to take public transport or to fetch their car as there wasn't any more room to park them at City Hall.
