I purchased this recently from a collector of railwayana, who thought it had been removed from a withdrawn steam locomotive. Does it ring any bells with anyone? it's about 3 1/2" by 2 1/4" in size.

    Thanks,

    Rob

This is a warning plate to inform shed and works staff that the water gauge seatings, located on the firebox backhead, have had internal pipes fitted.
I don't know what Class of loco it is from, but it is not off any BR Standard loco. The warning plates on those were plain rectangular shape.
