Details of this event are now on the Railway's website here:

Unfortunately, Ivatt 2-6-2 41298 and Terrier No 11 Newport will not now be in steam but there are lots of interesting things going on and the cost is the same as an ordinary operating day.

I know that the group who have worked feverishly on W11 for the last couple of years are gutted. It was steamed last weekend but unfortunately a defect was apparent that is not a five min fix, these things come along to bite you at the most inopportune times

W11 was oh so close to making the Gala! This is how it looked on Wednesday. The photo taped onto the smokebox is of W11 in this livery on the Island, the lining details and lettering have been faithfully copied to give an accurate job. Incidentally it is thought that this is the first time that W11 has been in green since its SR days

An excellent weekend. I went on the Saturday and there were plenty of people about. A good variety of trains in operation and Changing Trains looks very impressive. Interesting too to see the Ryde Pier Tram.

I sure Mr Smart would be kicking himself (if he could!) for W11 not being finished on time ;)

Thanks for sharing that nice set of photos; the coaches are superb, and although I couldn't make it this time, its going in my diary for 2014! With the Ivatt it will be even better, but the locos are all a credit to the preservation movement. Now, with the E1 running (in due course), it will be fantastic!
