Without commenting on the rights and wrongs, what most surprised me in that piece is that a journalist at a local paper actually seems to have gone out, done the legwork, interviewed affected parties, and written up a coherent story. Beats the normal "reprint whatever press release by one side we just got sent" or the bot generated "10 Harry Potter stars who haven't aged well (No. 7 will shock you!)" you expect from local papers these days ...

Agree, I was pleasantly surprised that it was relatively well written. I don't like the 'many locals are saying this' and then just quoting one local resident, but they do include quotes from a good range of other people involved.

Well looks like WCR not giving up just been on this evening ITV new's, that they have asked The railway minster to get involved words fail me how after the high court has said NO they have done this ,if the rail minster does stop ORR and allow WC to run it make a joke of ORR and Health and safety.

It's just the kind of culture war issue I can see the current rabble wishing to support. ("Plucky underdog fighting faceless bureaucracy ... health and safety gone mad ... courts preventing the will of the people ..." etc.) Which doesn't guarantee an outcome, but might make some nice theatrically to get the "battling" rail minister some favourable press in the Daily Mail and a half hour interview slot on GBeebies ...

I know everyone says health and safety go over the top but really they are only there to ensure a safe environment for everyone

That IS appalling. I hate the way road road transport is pampered by the regulators compared with the relatively much safer railways, but the issues have been tested in the higher courts and should be accepted.

Latest posting from WCRC they have appointment with the transport officer next week, Now ORR needs to make sure that they send a full safety reports on WCRC, and say why they have worries over them running without CDL on main line last throw of the dice I think for WCRC .

The funny thing is that its led to the head honcho at LSL being in direct and vocal conflict to the sort of libertarian thing those his funds would usually support.

So the question is, who have they hired the coaches from?

Perhaps Johan off the GCR threads might oblige with the MarsBar... My guess is not LSL except as a paths sharing deal...

There's six Riviera vehicles currently at Carnforth - two kitchens, one FO, one TSO, one BSO, one generator van. There's also additional CDL-fitted Mk. 2s owned by West Coast.

Does it really matter where the coaches are from as long as the service is being resumed?

This is a forum where people discuss all aspects of railway preservation. It's reasonable that people will wonder where stock will come from, especially as its not immediately apparent.

Yes, it does - in a charter market as tight as it is today, carriages going to FW will take capacity from elsewhere.

That’ll be £73.50! Well, that’s what mine said last week for one filling.
