Jubilee 40
The Jubilee line, named for the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, was opened in 1979. This year marks its Ruby anniversary - 40 years in service, as well as the 20th anniversary of the extension from Green Park to Stratford, which opened in 1999.

In celebration of this momentous anniversary, the Jubilee Line, in conjunction with London Transport Museum’s Hidden London programme, are offering you a rare and exclusive opportunity to travel on the line, including a section that’s not usually open to the public.

You’ll be able to journey on a 96-stock train between Stanmore and Charing Cross, the original route of the Jubilee line when it first opened in 1979. On the journey, you’ll hear from Hidden London experts Chris Nix or Siddy Holloway about the history of the line.

At Charing Cross, you’ll get the unique opportunity to stay into the train whilst it manoeuvres into the overrun tunnel and the chance to visit the drivers cab for a photo (share them with us using #Jub40), as well as join our Hidden London guides for a tour of the tunnels underneath the station.

Journey 1
Date: Sunday 10 November
Location: Stanmore – Charing Cross
Time: 9:00 – 11.45
Tickets: £90 adult, £85 children and concessions*

Meet outside the ticket barrier at Stanmore station at 9am.

You’ll then depart Stanmore on a 96 stock at 9:39 to travel to Charing Cross station, with experts giving a talk on the history of the line during the journey.

At Charing Cross, you’ll enjoy a Hidden London tour of the station’s tunnels and get the chance to stay in the train as it goes into the overrun tunnel and take a photo in the drivers cab.

Please note the event ends at Charing Cross station.

Journey 2
Date: Sunday 10 November
Location: Charing Cross – Stanmore
Time: 13:00 – 15:45
Tickets: £90 adult, £85 children and concessions*

Meet at Charing Cross Underground station at the bottom of staircase exit 3 at 13:00.

You’ll start with a Hidden London tour and get the chance to stay in the train as it goes into the overrun tunnel and take a photo in the drivers cab.

You’ll then depart from Charing Cross at 15:00 and enjoy the journey to Stanmore on a 96 stock train, with experts giving a talk on the history of the line during the journey.

Please note the event ends at Stanmore station.
