[Jul 5, 2014] Llangollen Classic Transport Weekend (Llangollen Railway)

Hot on the heels of a very successful Railcar gala, the Classic Transport weekend will feature intensive steam, diesel and railcar action, along with an impressive display of cars and buses on display in the field behind Glyndyfrdwy station. A free classic bus service will also be running between Glyndyfrdwy and Corwen.

The diesel loco taking part will be D5310 on both days - lots of Type 2 mileage on offer along with a lot to see and do.

There will be a BBQ on the platform at Llangollen all day run by the Station Cafe + Bar.

Is there any more information on which locos are working which diagram, which coachs will be used, direction of locos etc?

 

80072 - Facing Ruabon
3802 - Facing Barmouth
D5310 - Facing Barmouth

Coaching stock will be a rake of Mk 1's and the subs I think. We left the Chocolate and cream rake in the station on Sunday evening, so unless theres some shunting to swap the sets it will most likely be those.

 

...any idea if Niall's going to have the Fowler around the railway?

 

I couldnt tell you. I'll have a word for the 60s weekend when i see him next though. Always nice having it on the station approach.

 

Alas, I'll be away at the end of July, but I'm sure I'll catch up with it eventually.

Llangollen is in theory within a day's journey for mine (29 miles), but I'm not convinced I really fancy 5 hours sat doing 20 miles on the A5/A483 - those are two very busy roads to be a mobile road block on!

I have to admit that the largely unrestored ex-council 1960's condition of my tatty heap is a bit of an aquired taste as well, so not necessary something the railway would want lowering the tone of the area! Lol

 

Do you know which steam loco will be working which diagram?

 

Iain, you know what you could do with to make the gala complete? a really scruffy looking 4-6-0 what knew the sixties and would look well after your special cosmetic applications.

Hmm, wonder if we might just be able to get hold of one somewhere for you!!!

A very scruffy 4-6-0 would be a very welcome addition to 60's weekend a bit later in the month - a separate thread will appear for this shortly!

 

Apologies if it has been said already, but does anyone one know which steam loco, (3802/80072), will be working Steam 1 diagram, and which will be working Steam 2?
