Haven't seen any reference to "Champion" running with different plates though it's nice to have a change.

Why is the headcode 5O61 ? as Tour ECs shoulden't it be 5Z ?.

I believe 5O61 is now a booked path for ECS's from Wembley to Eastleigh so I suspect its now in the WTT so no need for a Z path.

I seem to remember reading that you can pay to have one side of D1015 renamed as your favourite Western for a particular tour. When it came through Cambridge last christmas it had 'Western Marksman' plates on one side.

Just found it on their website. It even has an appropriate price: £1015

On 14th October the loco hauled a train of empty china clay tanks between Salisbury and Cornwall. On that occasion it ran as D1054 Western Governor. <BJ>

the O refers to an inter-regional western to southern working I believe.

Yes and I'm the man to talk to if you want your favourite Class 52 running on the main line again. Several very satisfied customers, the plates are made to the original spec to a very high standard and of course you keep them after the tour. A really great 50th/60th (or any) birthday present as the package comes with two seats on the tour and a tour of the loco. Full details at

    http://www.westernchampion.co.uk/

P.S. Western Governor will go back on again as it was on the loco for the Buxton tour which has now been redated to the 20th March 2010
