Network Rail has released fresh images from behind the hoardings at King’s Cross, as it prepares to reveal the revitalised station.

September 15 signalled the start of a 10-day countdown to the unveiling of the new station and using Network Rail’s helicopter, those working on the project spelt out the King’s Cross hashtag – #KXSQ.

Tom Fernley, a project assistant at Network Rail who has spent his entire seven-year long career on the project, said: “The redevelopment of Kings Cross has been a landmark project not only for London but for Network Rail and these celebrations have been a great way to extend thanks to the people that have made it all possible.

“We have managed to mark this moment in history by creating an impressive memento to savour for years to come.”

The opening of the new public square at King’s Cross will also see Lewis Cubbitt’s 19th century façad returned to its former glory after 40 years spent hidden behind a ‘temporary’ extension.

It’s not only the station that is undergoing a makeover. The area around King’s Cross is also undergoing a major regeneration – a project that will soon see Google build its new European headquarters beside one of the capital’s most famous stations.
