I would have gone for footage for the end of year DVD at the KWVR, however given the choice of 5043 & 60007 or a series of diesels and abuse / beer glasses chucked at ya i know which i'd go for :)

Although i wish the KWVR every success at their gala this weekend, and hope the weather is decent for those of you that do attend.

I spent Sunday here. One disappointment was class 20 not ever being on the front of a train, as far as I could tell, or better still given a train on her own. Also, the gate to the picnic area at Oxenhope being padlocked at least when I got there in morning. Spoilt my usual routine of taking a shot of arriving train, then going onto the station for a ride on the departing train.

But it was a good roster of varied power.

The reason for the 20 not being on the front of the train, is that the original plan was for DRS to send a 20 rather than a 57. These were to work paired, with the DRS loco on the outside at all times, and 20031 acting as brake translator. In the event, DRS's 20 failed at the last minute and they sent a 57 as a substitute. By this time, it was too late to make major changes to the timetable without causing a lot of problems, so the 57 simply covered the DRS 20's turns.

The last train on Sunday was 20031 Oxenhope-Keighley-Oxenhope by itself on load six.

The noise ,especially on the return was impressive, especially as by then the greengrocers shop had sold out of vegetables,as all the children and their toys had gone home after the 37s,in order to pack their bags for school this morning.

Nearly as good as last year, when one one of the 20s was missbehaving (wouldn't power up) One class 20 loaded with 6+dead cl20 equivalent to 8 coaches, on a damp rail. I think we were making 15mph by the top of Keighley bank.
