Time was when repairs to a L&Y pug would have been carried out at Horwich; (sob).

    1300 isn't a pug...

But your point is otherwise well made. The waste of engineering skills over the last 30 years or so is shameful.

Hope to see 1300 back in operation soon.

Why do you need to know anyway? Presumably the owner has a plan and its up to him whether he shares it with anyone else. There is no "right to know" in this case.

Don't think anyone said they had a right to know? Nothing wrong with taking an interest...

I don't believe I said that anyone had said they did! Just pointing out the reality. I'm just as curious, but if the owner doesn't want to share the info I guess we have to respect that.

Might be worth considering who has some less than conventional facilities then...

  15. Indeed curiosity never killed the cat though, for example cranford number 2 was first overhauled in a barn in staffordshire before moving to embsay

Be suprising if they have the facilities to do such a job but never say never.

Having it on a short rake of wagons round the Docks might be worth a look if possible....

If you haven't been to Preston then you'd be very surprised at the facilities they do have, could put some of the larger railways to shame... Am very jealous!!!
