Following the completion of repairs, the boiler of 1300 was successfully hydraulic tested today. Subject to other committments the locomotive will be reassembled over the next few weeks with a view to doing some test running towards the end of August.

That's good to hear, I had no idea this loco was being repaired and thought it would remain on static display for a while yet.

Any idea where it will be going when ready ?.

That's great news to hear you've got it done again.
Will it return to Bury or pastures new ?
Any chance of the double with kwvr's L&Y 0-6-0 ?

Why would it need to go anywhere - I would imagine it would be ideal for the Ribble line. Can't see it returning to the E. Lancs though....

Welcome news, and a pleasant surprise, I seem to remember it had been moved out of the Exhibition Hall and into the Works when I was there for the Winter Gala.

What's the latest with the "Fife Flyer" is that up and running now

Would it ?, can't say I've yet been to Preston to see for myself, but when they had the 56XX running not long ago, it looked (in pics anyway) rather like the QE2 trying to navigate the Grand Union Canal among the resident Industrials.

The intention is it will run in at RSR including making some appearances on the weekend passenger services. In reality like 5643 its a bit big for regular use on the line and is free to take up gainful employment elsewhere once completed wherever that maybe. There are a number of industrial loco's there on the verge of entering service in the next 12 months including Barclay 2261 and the Grant Ritchie, if i were a betting man i'd place a few euros on Bagnall 2680 turning a wheel for the first time since 1973 before Easter next year.

It could come to the NNR to pair up with the J15 again!

Lets wait and see, I somehow doubt anything posted here will influence the owner(s) :)

KWVR would be nice, not sure how long there 060 has left on the ticket and the 1300 has a bit more grunt.
Would look nice on the Embsay 'Stately's too... but i dont recall ever seeing a tender loco ever work there ?

There seems to be quite a market for pre-grouping engines "doing the rounds" in recent years - 1744 and (300)53 being the most recent to turn up at a whole string of galas all over the place and the LNWR "Coal Tank" seems to be in demand too. I would be most surprised if No. 1300 found itself devoid of work.

Caley 828 was pretty popular at the SVR & Llangollen, I think it's down to something that's now unique or rare attracts just as much interest as a big mainline namer and a lot more than another Pannier or Standard 4.

Maybe some people are getting bored of everything being in BR Black and beginning to rediscover the joys of pre-grouping liveries... sounds like the 1970s preservation scene!

I think a lot of photographers get excited when they hear of a loco coming out in pre-grouping livery as it gives them the opportunity for a new campaign to paint it BR black!

Why's that? I thought it got on OK at NNR. ELR is one line I doubt the loco will visit again.
