Hopefully of interest to the group. Flexiscale is a new venture that is using laser scanners to capture extremely accurate models of narrow gauge prototypes and then using 3D printing to produce models of them in a variety of scales. Our first major project was scanning ex-Penrhyn loco EWinifred, now at Bala Lake. We've just completed scanning the four extant George England locos on the Ffestiniog Railway. You can support this project through our Kickstarter campaign: 3D printed kits of the Ffestiniog Englands from laser scans. by Chris Thorpe from The Flexiscale Company — Kickstarter.

More information abou Flexiscale, and how you can start your own project for a specific item of rolling stock: The Flexiscale Co : Welcome

Thanks. Yes, you can point the lasers at pretty much anything. If you'd like to suggest your own project, you can do so! Just go to: The Flexiscale Co : Welcome, create an account and start a project.

Even before, I really wanted my own 3D scanner in my printing shop; however, I’m afraid it would cost me too much. Any idea how much it will cost? When it comes to 3D printing, I really give importance to price tags and expenditures. I observe frugality. That’s why when it comes to materials; I choose reasonable prices and deals of filaments at 3d2print.net. For 3D printers, I value 3D printer kits to build my very own machine.
