In 1968 when Corby Quarries converted to diesel traction a steam run from Corby to Harringworth operated with open trucks and bales of straw for seats. Weather on the day was freezing fog but all the passengers stayed, enjoyed the day and survived the experience.

The Llangollen Railway offers rides in a wagon at Thomas events, the wagon is fitted with seats and a canopy (and vac braked) and was cleared by HMRI.
