Steam locomotives from from the Leighton Buzzard Railway, will be operating on four different railways this coming weekend. As a result vistors to Page's Park this weekend will see a rare sight, in engine sheds, empty space!

“Chaloner” (DeW /1877) and “Peter Pan” (KS 4256/1922) will be among the main attractions at the Steam in the Park event on the Wicksteed Park Railway, Kettering on 11th and 12th July. For the rest of the year, this line is operated by a steam outline Simplex diesel locomotive, although Leighton Buzzard’s “Creepy” has also been helping out in recent weeks, and will still be present.

The Wicksteed trip was planned some time ago, but a recent call for help from the Amberley Museum, in Sussex, has resulted in “P. C.Allen” (OK 5834/1912) visiting at short notice for their gala weekend, after another guest engine had to pull out.

Further west, “Pixie” (KS 4260/1922) is on long-term hire to the Devon Railway Centre, at Bickleigh, near Tiverton.

Meanwhile, the normal steam train service will operate at Leighton Buzzard on Sunday 12th July, with departures from Page’s Park station at 10.40, 12.20, 14.00 and 15.40, hauled by either "Doll" (AB 141/1919) or 778 (BLW 44656/1917).

This is the first time that we have supported a four-way split, of our locomotive fleet, although three way splits have occured several times. One of these occassions seeing Leighton Buzzard engines working in Germany, Belgium and Leighton Buzzard, the same weekend.
