It looks a very interesting trip so I have booked on it. As you say, some track that rarely sees steam and a chance to visit the Jewel that is Cleethorpes ;-)

Really excited by this move. There is not much steam that takes the Tottenham Hale - Cambridge routing, so when on board I will be able to wave to my young nephews from the train when I go past their house near Saffron Walden. I am an old softy at heart.

No actual times yet for this trip, although there are actual times for trips almost a week later. Seems to be plenty of seats available still for this trip so am wondering if it may become a non starter. It is after all only 2 days after the Sheringham trip and times plus tickets for that were received early last week.

Anyone else on this trip apart from Pesmo and Leander?

Actual times now up on RTC website.

    Actual Timings
    Station Depart Return
    London Liverpool Street 08:23 22:48
    Tottenham Hale 09:15 22:21
    Bishop Stortford 09:55 21:46
    Cambridge 10:46 21:16
    Ely 11:19 20:48
    Peterborough 12:05 20:02
    Cleethorpes 15:15 16:10

I notice a slightly earlier departure time from Liverpool Street, the 2 hours in Cleethorpes is now 55 minutes and arrival in Peterborough (where I get off) now later than originally planned. :eek:hwell:
Just hope it's not late or my prebooked ticket for onward travel home will be invalid and I'll have to pay for another one

Just swear blind that your previous train was held up by some damn late running steam train........

I tried it once and it worked....

Looked at a route map for the return from Cleethorpes to Worksop and it's possible that there will be no traversing of the Robin Hood line. This would require the diesel to run round at Worksop after OC has come off, most likely we'll reverse at Worksop and rejoin the ECML at Retford. Might know better when tickets arrive but it does look the most straightforward option.

Yes, train reverses at Worksop Yard and joins the ECML at Retford.

I'm on this and have just looked at the times on steam info. Just under an hour it seems in Cleethorpes and no mention of Grimsby as a choice or of New Holland as the reversing point.

the stop at grimsby is to wait for the cleethorpes to barton train to arrive at grimsby town as it's single line from grimsby town to cleethorpes with a passing loop near grimsby docks. it look's like reversing at ulceby.

8F 48151 did something similar back in 2007, dragged by a Class 47 from Cleethorpes to Ulceby, then 48151 lead the tour away from Ulceby back to Hull. I guess the fact that the tour is arriving fairly late in the day, it'd be a very late arrival back into Liverpool Street if the tour still went up to New Holland, hence the cut back to Ulceby.

Good to see there is a stop at Grantham on the rtn, means we can bail if its running late, seen as though BR still love to run trains long into the night on the ECML (last dep 20:30 to the north from KX!)

Ticket arrived today for Coach B. No mention of Grantham stop so maybe it won't happen just have to wait and see.
Looking forward to a good trip.
