I wonder how they are going to work the Llandudno end of the trip. As there is no diesel with the train maybe one loco will come off the front at the Junction and top and tail into Llandudno, then the stock can be hauled out. Both locos will then have to go to turn, before repeating the top and tail move.

I presume that the train will set back into sidings at Llandudno then locos will detach to run to Valley for reversal; return to Llandudno and run onto back of trainset to set back into station then "Right Away" home.

I'll be at Abergele to see this. Just hope it's not too windy when I saw 6201 back in April 2008.

Sadly working today so I won't be out to see this. Otherwise it would have been a trip to Abergele and a walk along the beach with the dog for a couple of hours.

Looking forward to seeing the photos and videos later though.

    Neil.

Not many updates here so for those wondering how they're going - past Wardle (between Crewe and Beeston Castle) at 10.01 going well. (I did post to RailTours Live at the time.)

I'm currently sitting on a Class 175 near Colwyn Bay. Driver reports that there are 10 lineside fires between here and Chester.

Conductor now reports that there 4 fires (not 10), but we've still not moved.

On the move after about 45 mins.

Been looking at photos of 4965+5043 & train while we were waiting. 10 coaches. Double header. No gradients to speak of. 4 fires! Hmm?

I was at Abergele this evening, I was meant to be there in the morning but missed my train by a minute.

After the double-header had passed through Abergele, myself and 3 other on-lookers looked to see a barrage of smoke from an embankment. This was the worst of 3 lineside fires that I witnessed as it started to spread. The signalman at Abergele station was quick to call the fire services for which they dealt with.

Trains were delayed, but when we did get on the move. I noticed that another lineside fire had occured opposite a caravan park on the approach to Rhyl.

It does however, raise the question again of a temporary steam ban during this dry spell we are having. Hopefully not, but questions will be asked.

Well.... Rubish day for me all in all!

I live in Wrexham so I thought I'd catch it at Shotton this morning. I got stuck behind what could be the slowest car in the UK?!?! so missed it there. So, I thought I would go and see it this evening near Tattenhall.... I arrived there around 19:20 and stayed untill 20:30 and never saw it... Bugger!

I can confirm that there were at least 4 line side fires after the train passed through Abegele station.
I witnessed the fire brigade extinguishing two of the fires, one which had encroached almost on to the promenade. Below is a photograph of the first fire which was the worst.
