We are having 78019 again for the Autumn Gala. Other locos had been look into, but all of these had commitments at other railways, or on the mainline around the time of our event.

It will be the 3rd time this loco has viseded Llan, but it is a popular machine, and suits the railway.

Hopefully this time we can have it doubleheaded with 80072, which was still in undercoat at the previous Standard gala in 2009.

If the NCB Hunslet 3777 "68030" is still on the line, could it have an active role in the gala? Short freight (3 vans), station pilot perhaps?

    Thanks,
    Lewis

This is correct. Timetables will be available soon.

It'll be nice to see doubleheaded 5's. Hopefully on the maroon set, that now includes 1 blue and grey.

It was planned to use this loco, but it is due to go out on hire to Dartmoor before our gala.

The footplate rosters were sent out last night, so i'd guess that the timetables will be available this week.

    I'm on 80072 Saturday and 45337 Sunday.

I've seen some photos of 44806 online recently, and she's currently being rubbed down in preparation for repainting. What livery is she set to carry?

Also, what livery is newly arrived 45337 for the gala?

    Thanks,
    Lewis

I visited the Llangollen this past week and 44806 was in the works being repainted with the cycling lion totem newly applied to the tender. 45337 was in the yard in plain unlined black but with the BR 45337 smoke box number on the front.

Some of the owning group were around on sunday giving the loco a bit of TLC. I did notice one of them carrying cabside numbers and a set of Late BR crests for the tender.

Can't wait for the sound of 2 fives on severn coaches going up the 1 in 80...

Too right! They've never had another 5 there before. 2 newly painted Black 5s and hopefully 7 recently painted red and cream mk1s. I don't think I've ever seen a 5 withg 7 on its own at Llangollen either so that should be fun.

Happened at SSS2, August Thomas events for the last 3yrs and also when there was the Berwyn Belle it was a fairly regular occurrence.

Reading the timetables it would appear that we are using the bodged up Mk. 1 RMB ,with its slightly extended counter, as a 'Real Ale Bar'. We have spent in excess of £30k on the 'Elizabethan' Buffet Lounge Car ,with its 22' bar, which is probably the finest bar car in preservation & which will be sitting in the sidings at the weekend.. What's going on ?
    Time for changes ?

    Bob.

I said I'd never seen it not that it has never happened and it didn't happen in SSS2.
