The refurbishment of the mock Tudor station master's house at Berwyn into a holiday let is nearing completion.
By the end of the coming week all painting will be finished & the building will be ready for carpets & curtains, then furniture. All of the work has been carried out to a high standard. The building comprises a fiited kichen/dining area , bathroom & bedroom on the ground floor, a lounge on the first floor containing a bay window with views along the platform & down Berwyn bank plus of course the River Dee below. There is also a bedroom & a toilet/shower on this floor. The top floor has a bedroom with en-suite w.c.
The work has been managed in-house ,with items such as plastering , joinery & painting sub-contracted out, due to the need to get the building finished as soon as possible. Hopefully the building will be available for letting within the next couple of months to enable the railway to reclaim the large expenditure it has made on the project.
The same team has also converted the former gents toilet on the platform into male & female toilets & this is a real quality job .

Hope it's pretty soundproof with the A5 immediatly to the rear!, otherwise sounds a nice place for anyone with a railway interest.

Will the bookings be through the railway or will it be managed by one of the specialist companies?

It's too late to put it out to a specialist holiday company for this year, so i presume bookings will be done through the general office at Llangollen.

The railway and river on the opposite side are as loud. It's not too noisey. Remember it was build over 100 years ago, so it's got decent thickness walls.....

The letting details for the Station Master's house are now on the railway's website www.llangollen-railway.co.uk
The finished article is really high class & well worth a look.
If you're going to the SSSII gala it appears to be still available.
