Llangollen Railway Railcar Gala this weekend (25/26 June)

    One of the highlights of the railcar (DMU) calendar of the year is this weekend at the Llangollen Railway when the annual railcar gala takes place.
    We've managed to cram in 15 departures and the timetable is arranged so that if you want to you can ride all day with not much longer than a 5 minute break at any time.
    The guest this year is export demonstrator railbus RB004,built by Leyland/BREL in 1984 and which has never run any distance in this country in passenger service.
    Four units will also be operating, of classes 104, 108, Wickham and 127 and the GWR auto train, with coaches outmost and Pannier 6430 inside will be providing the steam comparison.
    There's a BBQ at Berwyn on Saturday evening (with a shuttle from Llangollen) and we're also hoping to do "turn up and go" driver experiences on RB004 for £10 a time during the BBQ event
    Come and take a nostalgic ride on some of these first-generation units, all of which are now more than 50 years old!
