I have a LMS Tender Plate No 2347 of 1892. Can anyone please a) tell me the type of loco it may have come from and b) any sort of value.
    Many thanks in anticipation.

Most certainly. I do know when the LMS took over the LNW and L&Y they did keep their tender number. 2012 part 1 001.jpg

The tenders of Midland Railway locos carried the same number as the loco. The LMS changed this in 1927, when they introduced individual tender numbers for ex M.R. tenders. Records show that tender No 2347 was a Johnson 3250 gallon tender which was paired with 3F 0-6-0 3510 (43510).
Wild Swan Loco Profile books are an excellent reference.

Can anyone tell me where I may find a comprehensive list of which LMS locomotives by number were allocated which tenders by number. I have raked the internet in vain!
I have very patchy information for Black Fives (Sixsmith's Book) and Jubilees (book of Jubilees) but this is not very useful.
My interest is sparked by a desire for a couple of tenderplates and it would be nice to know the locomotives.
I have recently purchased tenderplate LMS No.10222 dated 1945 but have yet track down the engine(s). It is probably a 4000gals tender for destined for a 8F as one or two near numbers were destined for the middle east but that is speculation.
    Many thanks in antici..............pation.

Engines of the LMS built 1923-1951 by P. Rowledge published by OPC is a good reference book. I believe 10222 was paired with 48495 according to that publication.

I have records of LMS tender numbers up to 9855 and what/when they were fitted to.
They are not complete but do cover a few hundred tenders.
I'd be pleased to help with individual enquiries.
There are some LNW ones as well.
