Having today welcomed the millionth visitor to Locomotion in less than 6 years, we are delighted to announce the line up for this year. A bit of a Gresley theme this year!

    In steam:
D49 "Morayshire" courtesy of the SRPS and National Museum of Scotland
N2 1744 permission of the Gresley Society
    J72 69023 thanks to NELPG
and favourite Furness 20 from the Furness Railway Trust

    plus outside on static display:
    A4 "Mallard"
    V2 "Green Arrow"
    J52 1247

Plus the SLS Webb Compound miniature "Orion"
    Traction Engines
    Fair Organ
    Trade and Society Stands

And it's all FREE except train rides (for which I am hoping to run Stephen Middleton's GER saloon for the first time)

    10am to 5pm both days

Also a Friday evening photo session and Sunday morning session, which are both bookable events for a small fee, call 01388 777999 to reserve your place.

    See you there?

Count me in, I take it Morayshire will be the big engine in steam at the end of the day?

Gutted its same weekend as SVR otherwise I'd be making the effort to be there. The sight of 3 Gresley machines all in LNER will be spot on, and the N2 will fit in just as well.

To avoid the possibility of tripping my daughter's boredom overload switch can someone tell me when Morayshire is likely to be working on the train rides on the Sunday please?

    Morning Ian

the plan is not to use it on passenger rides due to the curvature of the track into the goods shed at the top end of thesite, but for it to do demo runs up to the coal drops after 4pm on both days.

    Cheers
    Anthony

I think I might go along tomorrow, travelling from and back to York doesn't seem to be too complex or expensive. I wonder if Morayshire could pop along to the NYMR next week and help salvage the gala from a Slow & Dirty theme ;-) (I do know that it is more likely to see Satan ice skating to the office than the D49 on the NYMR!)

Can I please take this opportunity to congratulate Anthony & everyone else involved in this event - we had a great time yesterday & all agreed that the lineup was excellent. We were there early on Saturday - I do hope that the numbers were good, as it seemed a little quiet then

I was also impressed by what's happening with the Crab - looking forward to seeing her when she's got her new coat on :)

I did go on Saturday, I'll upload my photos later and I really enjoyed it! It was good to see several locos from the NRM that I haven't seen for some time or at all, plus the bonus of seeing Morayshire for the first time, and Joem and No.20 in working condition. I might have to go on the shunting demonstration weekend in a couple of weeks to get a beeter look at the colection there.

I would like to second previous comments based on my visit yesterday. Thanks to all involved for a very well organised event. It was a great treat to see three apple green tank engines together with lots of opportunities to photograph them in pairs or as a threesome; pity that the sum went in when Morayshire came out to play. Noting that the two electric locos had been repositioned since my visit some time ago, it would be great to see them brought outside sometime, perhaps as part of a low-budget modern traction event?

Just back from my visit this afternoon.

Great to see the N2, D49, J72, A4 and V2 all line up together.

Once Furness 20 was finished doing the brake van rides, the N2 and D49 did some spirited run pasts on the demo line.

J52 was nicely parked for a group photo with the N2 and D49.

    Well done all involved.

    Best Regards

Thanks all - the spirited run pasts were quite fun this afternoon, that was me finding second valve on the N2! Glad you all enjoyed it, I'll pass the thanks on to the team, they will appreciate it I know.

    Now for next year...

    Cheers
    Anthony
